The Austintown Alumni Association recently awarded several minigrants to three teachers in the Austintown school system.

The recipients were Melanie Pfaw, fourth-grade math teacher at Frank Ohl; Carli Cramer, elementary technology; and Kelly Mills, elementary guidance counselor.

Minigrants are used for materials, programs and teaching aids that extend learning in the classroom.

Since 2001, this organization has been able to fund classroom minigrants in excess of $11,000.

The Austintown Alumni Association was established in October 1997 and it reaches Austintown Fitch graduates across the country. Its goals are to raise money for scholarships awarded to graduating Fitch seniors, provide minigrants to Austintown classroom teachers and to provide a link to Fitch alumni.
