POLICE CALLS

A summary of police activity in the city of Canfield and Austintown:

CANFIELD

April 6

Stolen checks/forgery: Police charged Diana Muth, 25, of 7141 Palmyra Road, with theft and forgery for the theft of five checks stolen from an employee’s vehicle at McQuaid’s gas station, 407 W. Main St. The checks were forged and cashed and two debit transactions were made.

April 6

Unauthorized use of credit card: A credit card belonging to a Girard woman who is employed at McQuaid’s gas station, 407 W. Main St., was used to make $1,635 in charges and $500 worth of lottery tickets also were missing from the office.

Fraudulent charges: $80.55 in fraudulent charges were reported by a Montgomery Drive man to his business account.

April 8

Drug abuse instruments: Police charged Lucy McCarty, 21, of 220 Ridgewood Drive, Boardman, with possession of drug-abuse instruments, a syringe, after her arrest in the city.

AUSTINTOWN

April 4

Theft: Police charged James Centafanti, 31, of 54 Lexington Place, with theft and possession of criminal tools, and Dave Dorbish, 35, of 3410 S. Westview Ave., with theft for reportedly taking scrap metal from the Baseball Club House, 5706 Vassar Ave.

Breaking and entering: Money was taken during a break-in at The Bamboo Garden, 5468 Mahoning Ave.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged at Get-Go, 5163 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: Lottery tickets were stolen at Marc’s, 4755 Mahoning Ave.

Recovered property: A wallet was recovered at Starbucks, 851 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Fraud: Unauthorized purchases were reported at a home in the 4000 block of North Warwick Drive.

Theft: Someone pumped $48.01 worth of gas and left without paying at Country Fair, 1143 N. Niles-Canfield Road.

Auto theft: A white Buick was stolen at Marc’s, 4755 Mahoning Ave., and later recovered by Youngstown police after it had been burned.

April 5

Breaking and entering: An undetermined amount of money was taken at Salsita’s, 5495 Clarkins Drive, after entry was gained through a broken window.

Theft: A tenant took appliances from a home in the 3000 block of Mahoning Avenue.

Burglary: A lockbox with $218 in miscellaneous change was reported missing at Phoenix House, 850 N. Meridian Road.

Breaking and entering: An unattached garage was broken into at a home in the 100 block of North Turner Road.

Theft: A rear license-plate was stolen from an auto at Best Western, 870 N. Niles-Canfield Road.

Theft: A Garmin GPS was stolen from an auto parked at a home in the 800 block of North Raccoon Road.

April 6

Criminal damaging: A drive-through sign was damaged at Dunkin Donuts, 1123 N. Niles-Canfield Road.

Criminal damaging: A mailbox was damaged at a home in the 6000 block of Herons Circle.

Theft: Police charged John Jewelli, 51, of 60 S. Glenellen Ave., Youngstown, with theft of grocery items and disorderly conduct at Aldi, 5863 Mahoning Ave.

April 7

Breaking and entering: A front window was smashed out at Salsita’s, but nothing was taken.

Breaking and entering: Money was taken at Arthur Treacher’s, 4451 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: A total of $940 was taken at Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road.

Theft: A laptop was taken at Harbor Freight, 6000 Mahoning Ave.

Fraud: A woman’s debit card was compromised at Sheetz gas station, 5499 Mahoning Ave.

Warrant: Police arrested Ricky Raymond, 24, of 1101 Chadwick Lane, on warrants for failure to appear for possession of criminal tools and unlawful removal and also for disorderly conduct.

Menacing by staking: A female reported being harassed by another female at Kentucky Fried Chicken, 4642 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: A woman stole her mother’s television and checks from a home in the 3000 block of Timberlane.

April 8

Telecommunications harassment: An unidentified male caller made harassing calls to Sunkiss Tanning, 1397 S. Canfield-Niles Road.

April 9

Drug offense: Police charged David Hospodor, 32, of 15 E. Prospect St., Girard, with possession of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and drug abuse of marijuana after his arrest in the township.

Domestic violence: Police charged Paul Sammartino, 40, of 4344 Pembrook Road, with the crime at his home.

Breaking and entering: A string and hedge trimmer was taken at a home in the 1000 block of South Clearwater Cove.

Theft: Jewelry was stolen at a home in the 100 block of Wilcox Road.

Criminal damaging: Fifty feet of lawn was damaged at a home in the 2000 block of Amberly Avenue.

Telecommunications harassment: A male was threatening a female through unwanted text messages and telephone calls at a home in the 500 block of South Turner Road.

Theft: A chain saw was stolen at Sears Hardware, 6009 Mahoning Ave.

Telecommunications harassment: A woman was harassing a male at a home in the 5000 block of Colgate Avenue.

April 10

Recovered property: A brown leather wallet was recovered at the Wedgewood Plaza parking lot, 1747 S. Raccoon Road.

Auto theft: A 2008 Impala was stolen from a home in the 2000 block of Third Street and then recovered in the 50 block of Westminster Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle was scratched at a home in the 1000 block of Rosemont Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A real-estate sign was damaged at a home in the 2000 block of Elm Trace.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle window was damaged at a home in the 4000 block of Deer Creek Drive.

Lost or stolen wallet: A wallet containing an Ohio driver’s license was lost or stolen at somewhere between Marc’s and the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged at Greenwood Chevrolet, 4695 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: An iPhone was stolen at the Upstairs, 4500 Mahoning Ave.

Burglary: Electronics were stolen from an apartment in the 400 block of Compass West.
