Perfect score

NILES

Shepherd of the Valley Niles Assisted Living community, 1500 McKinley Ave., recently received a perfect score on its annual Ohio Department of Health survey.

Assisted living communities housing 17 or more people are licensed and surveyed annually.

Ohio has 598 assisted-living communities that must meet 324 regulations to achieve a perfect score. Each year, less than 50 percent achieve that goal, said Rick Mattix, Niles SOV associate director.

Labs accredited

FARRELL/GREENVILLE, PA.

The laboratories at UPMC Horizon’s Greenville and Shenango Valley campuses recently were awarded accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), which conducted an on-site inspection of the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications as well as the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management of the laboratory.
