Warren auditor charged with DUI

David Griffing, Warren auditor, will appear for an arraignment hearing at 10:30 a.m. today in Trumbull County Central District Court in Cortland on a charge of driving under the influence. It was filed against him Saturday evening in Bazetta.

Griffing, 56, of Willard Avenue in Warren, was traveling south on state Route 46 near Cadwallader Sonk Road when a Bazetta Township police officer pulled him over at 9:53 p.m.

Officers were alerted to Griffing’s tan-colored Jeep Wrangler “weaving all over the road” near state Route 305 and also saw the Jeep cross the center line three times and then go back on the right side of the road. Griffing told the officer he had been at the Green Eagle Winery north of Cortland.

Griffing was given a blood-alcohol test at the Champion Police Department, which registered a 0.19, which is more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.
