Visitation begins as PNC Park's usher's car found
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Funeral home visitation was set for a PNC Park usher found dead with a head injury away from the ballpark shortly after Friday night’s extra-inning game.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner has yet to release a cause of death for 58-year-old Michael Schacht, who was found unresponsive more than a mile away from the ballpark about 12:40 a.m.
Police haven’t confirmed that Schacht was killed, but his missing car led police to believe he might have been attacked.
Police Cmdr. Thomas Stangrecki said today the car has been found and police are trying to determine who took it, though they’ve yet to conclude that Schacht was slain as opposed to dying some other way.
The usher’s funeral is Wednesday at a Catholic church on the city’s North Side, near the ballpark and the site where he was found.
