POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:
GIRARD
April 7
Criminal damaging: Someone shot a BB and damaged a window to a home in the 400 block of Powers Avenue.
Damage: A vehicle in the 300 block of East Liberty Street was found with a tire that had been cut.
April 8
Criminal mischief: A basement window to a vacant home in the 200 block of Church Hill Road was broken.
Criminal damaging: Two doors to a mailbox were torn off in the 10 block of Mohawk Drive.
Theft: A .40-caliber handgun was missing from a home in the 900 block of Washington Avenue.
Theft: Someone removed a .38-caliber revolver from a truck in the 1000 block of North State Street.
Theft: A woman in the 300 block of Elruth Court discovered her purse missing.
Assault: A Stull Avenue man alleged his sister and her boyfriend assaulted him. The boyfriend said the man had forced his way into the home and gotten into an altercation with the woman.
April 9
Theft: Alaina M. Phillips, 31, of 331 W. State St., Niles, was charged in the theft of $28 worth of groceries from Santisi’s IGA Super Center, 419 N. State St.
Theft: Three people were seen on a surveillance camera removing about 15 catalytic converters from vehicles at BNM Auto Sales, 1429 S. State St.
Theft: A boy took three boxes of condoms from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 713 N. State St.
April 10
Breaking and entering: Holly M. Moga, 25, of 605 Trumbull Ave., Girard, faced charges of breaking and entering, theft and possession of criminal tools when, police said, she was hiding in a closet at a trailer in the 700 block of Trumbull Avenue that had been broken into. Moga also had three bags of copper that had been cut, as well as wire-cutting tools, a report showed.
Harassment: An Iowa Avenue woman told police her son has received several sexual calls and emails.
Domestic violence: Officers charged 53-year-old George Lohr, 236 Dearborn Ave., Girard, with the crime after his wife alleged Lohr had punched her arm and slapped her face during an argument about her phone use.
April 11
Menacing: A Patricia Drive woman said her neighbor threatened her with harm if she didn’t move her vehicle.
HUBBARD
April 5
Assault: Northside Medical Center, Youngstown, reported having admitted a woman who alleged her boyfriend, of Parish Avenue, had assaulted her.
April 6
Theft: An East Liberty Street man accused his stepson of stealing a table saw.
April 7
Harassment: An East Water Street woman reported receiving such calls.
Harassment: A Woodland Avenue woman told officers of being harassed via phone.
Assault: A male reported being assaulted in the 1800 block of Creekside Drive.
Theft: Tools were stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of West Liberty Street.
April 8
Fraud: A customer at Hubbard Gas & Mini Mart, 175 Youngstown-Hubbard Road, cashed and improperly placed a stop-payment order on a check.
Drugs: An official with Reed Middle School, 150 Hall Ave., reported finding suspected drugs.
LIBERTY
April 6
Burglary: To a home in the 1800 block of Lucretia Drive through a window. Missing were checks, jewelry and several glass crystal flower petals, for a $610 loss.
Possible theft: A man in the 400 block of Laurel Street told police he never received one box each of medical supplies and tools that were to be delivered to his residence.
Arrest: Officers picked up 43-year-old Lawrence R. Reed, 812 Fairfax Ave., Youngstown, at the Mahoning County Jail. Reed was wanted by township authorities on a felony warrant.
April 7
Burglary: Someone kicked in a rear door and entered a residence in the 4700 block of Logan Way, though nothing appeared to be missing.
Fraud: A North Gate Road woman found out her stolen debit card was used to make three unauthorized withdrawals totaling $580.
Felonious assault: A 15-year-old Girard girl faced a felonious-assault charge after two boys told police, responding to a large fight on Scott Lane, that she slashed at them with a kitchen knife. One of the teens pushed the girl to the ground and disarmed her, a report said.
Arrest: Police responding to a vehicular accident on Euclid Boulevard took into custody 36-year-old Rushad E. Chambers, 2518 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. He was wanted by Youngstown police on a criminal-damaging charge.
Arrest: Authorities charged Diane V. North, 58, of 110 Wood St., Youngstown, with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after responding to a fight between a customer and an employee of Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave. North screamed profanities, threw a cup of coffee and refused to cooperate with police, they said.
April 8
Criminal damaging: Someone deliberately cut a truck’s tires in the 1600 block of Trumbull Avenue.
Drugs/counterfeit: Police charged 20-year-old Mykel J. Phipps, 2123 Logan Way, Liberty, with one felony count of criminal simulation and one misdemeanor count of trafficking in drugs after saying Phipps had tried to use a phony $10 bill at two township gas stations. He also had seven small bags of suspected marijuana, a report showed.
Drugs: A worker for a Belmont Avenue restaurant called authorities after someone had unwittingly left a bag of narcotics, likely crack cocaine, on a counter.
Arrest: James R. Shankel, 47, of 6920 Clewell Drive, Lisbon, was arrested on West Montrose Street on a traffic warrant and charged with driving a vehicle with no operator’s license.
Theft: A 17-year-old Mercer, Pa., girl was detained and released to the custody of a family member after $56 worth of makeup had been stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.
Harassment: A Tomilu Drive woman said her former boyfriend has made unwanted calls, visits and text messages.
April 10
Trespassing: Theodore A. Thomas, 41, of 605 Trumbull Ave., Youngstown, faced a criminal-trespassing charge after an elderly Euclid Boulevard woman told police Thomas came onto her property, despite his having been told never to do so.
April 11
Aggravated menacing: A Townsend Avenue woman told police her boyfriend threatened to kill her family and blow up her car.
