Dad of alleged FBI attacker gets hearing on guns
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A federal judge says a still-sealed search warrant in the case of a western Pennsylvania man already jailed on charges he bit two FBI agents shows the government is trying to determine if he “provided material support to terrorists in violation of U.S. law.”
Today’s hearing involved the possible return of more than 70 items seized form the home of Shawn Begolly, a Clarion County man whose 21-year-old son, Emerson, is accused of biting the agents Jan. 4.
The judge denied Shawn Begolly’s request to have the government immediately return two firearms and additional items investigators say they still need in the investigation of his son.
But the brief hearing did clear up why the searches were conducted when the judge briefly discussed the probable cause against Emerson Begolly in open court.
