Commemoration to mark Civil War sesquicentennial

A Civil War 150th anniversary commemoration is planned today at the Eastwood Mall in Niles. The following is the day’s schedule:

3 to 6 p.m. Greeters in costume will direct visitors to these five areas of interest in the mall complex:

  • National election of 1860

  • Attack on Fort Sumter

  • Mock enlistment table manned by reenactors

  • Showing of uniforms

  • Display of commemorative postage stamps

3:45 p.m. Presenting of Colors

4 p.m. Remarks by “Abraham Lincoln”

4:15 p.m. Retreat of Colors
