Ursuline 10, Boardman 7

BOARDMAN

Ryan Strollo tripled and drove in two runs to lead Ursuline, which benefited from five Boardman errors. The Irish scored four runs in the top of the sixth and two more in the seventh to rally. Danny Popio had two hits, including a homer, for Boardman (3-2).

Canfield 13, Salem 1

SALEM

Michael Wittman hit a two-run homer, Josh Midgley doubled twice and drove in three runs and Brad Smith added two doubles and two RBIs for Canfield (3-0). Tylor Rhoades (1-0) struck out three and pitched a five-hitter to get the win. Mike Crittendon doubled and scored for Salem (0-5).

Springfield 5, South Range 4

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Jason Horn had two hits, including the walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth for Springfield (4-2, 4-0 ITCL Tier One). Trailing 4-2 entering the bottom of the ninth, the Tigers got two outs before Ron Bovo walked, Nick Russell singled and Brad Ferraro reached on an error that scored Bovo. An intentional walk then set up Horn’s heroics. Ferraro pitched the first seven innings, giving up two unearned runs. Andy Lacefield had three hits for South Range (3-4, 1-3). Mike Thorpe struck out eight in seven innings.

Mineral Ridge 4, Lisbon 3

MINERAL RIDGE

Dan Ferguson led off the ninth with a triple, then scored on Tom Robbins’ base hit up the middle with no outs. Ferguson and Robbins were the only two batters in the bottom of the ninth for Ridge (2-2, 1-2 ITCL Tier One). The pair also played a role on the mound as Ferguson, a sophomore, pitched 22/3 innings for the win. Ferguson gave up two runs and three hits, while Robbins allowed one run and two hits. Besides his walk-off hit, Robbins, a senior, had a double and three RBIs. Danny Reese had two singles for Lisbon.

Crestvivew 5, Columbiana 3

COLUMBIANA

Brian Orr had two hits, including a homer, and three RBIs for Crestview (4-3, 2-2 ITCL Tier One). Zach Moore had two hits and two RBIs and Brandon Brooks also had two hits. For Columbiana, Jeff Davidson had two hits and two RBIs.

McDonald 10, Wellsville 1

WELLSVILLE

Junior Brandon O’Neill had a four-hitter that included 14 strikeouts for McDonald (2-4, 2-3 ITCL Tier Two). Michael Raschilla had two doubles and a single, Will Robison had three singles and Alex Bison had two singles for the winners. Raschilla and Robison both had three RBIs.

Hubbard 5, Poland 3

HUBBARD

Senior Kory Hopkinson had two singles and senior Mike Lopuchovsky had three RBIs, while Tyler Kachelries, a senior making his varsity start, had one strikeout and two walks over seven innings for Hubbard (1-4). Dave Bobby had three hits, while Chris Lipari and Alex Magni had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs (1-3).

Niles 9, Struthers 2

STRUTHERS

Mike Watson had three hits, including a triple, and Jake Foster tripled and drove in three runs to lead Niles (7-1). Nick Charnas pitched a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts and three walks to get the win. Dylan Duchek doubled twice and scored for Struthers.
