Three assaulted at South Side tavern

Three people were assaulted by a group of five men and two women after they left the Brickhouse Tavern, 958 E. Midlothian Blvd., about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The victims, who police said were intoxicated, told police when they left the Brickhouse and were walking to their cars, a 36-year-old woman was attacked by two other females, who pushed her to the ground and hit the victim in the face.

When the woman’s companions, a 42-year-old man and a 36-year-old man, came to assist her, they were attacked by five men, who punched and kicked the victims about the body, according to police.

The victims got to their cars, and the suspects broke the driver’s side mirror on one of them, police said.

The victims complained of head and body injuries but refused treatment.

Minority Health Month events set

YOUNGSTOWN

Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana Inc., 3660 Shirley Road, will have events for Minority Health Month for the whole family.

The first event will be a nutrition and food demonstration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Participants will learn how to prepare vegetables the entire family will enjoy and discover herbs and spices.

The Hispanic social services agency’s annual health fair will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 20 with free health screenings. Participants must fast for blood work. Health agencies will provide important information for the entire family.

“Dancing to the Beat of Your Heart” will be from 5 to 8 p.m. April 27. Salsa, line dancing and everything in between will be offered for all ages. DJ Eddie will be host.
