Server work by Century Link cuts phones for 2,000 in Warren

WARREN

Telephone service in the central part of the city went out at 6 a.m. today and remained out throughout the day. It was restored by about 8 p.m.

Joanette Romero, Ohio spokesperson for Century Link, said about 2,000 customers lost voice services as a result of work being done by Century Link on computer servers.

The problem took away calling capabilities but not Internet or 911 service, she said. The Warren Police Department notified the media that the county 911 center would receive and transfer non-emergency calls to the police department until phone service came back up.
