“UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS” (9 p.m., PBS): Maybe you can go home again. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the beloved British series, “Masterpiece Classic” whisks viewers back to the fabled London townhouse at 165 Eaton Place for a spirited three-part sequel. Picking up in 1936 — six years after the original left off — the update has a new family moving into the dusty ol’ place, which has been vacant all this time. But an ambitious renovation and the help of former parlor maid Rose Buck (Jean Marsh reprising her role), soon restores the address to its former glory. Now, let the sudsy drama begin.
“Comedy Awards” (9 p.m., Comedy Central, Spike, TV Land, CMT and VH1): The inaugural “Comedy Awards” promises to be a regular laugh riot. Humorous achievements in film, TV and the Internet are celebrated, and Eddie Murphy is honored with the first “Comedy Icon Award.”
