HOWLAND

The Tigers (4-0) remain perfect after sweeping a doubleheader against the Blue Devils (5-3) on Saturday. Hayley Marchio handled things in the first game, pitching seven innings of shutout ball. She allowed just three hits, while striking out a pair. Alyse March and Christina Brindley each doubled for the Tigers, which had 11 hits off Western Reserve's duo of April Lude and Sissy Stubbs. Marchio also got the win in the second game, relieving starter Tori McCormick in the fourth inning. The Blue Devils had more hits (12-11) and fewer errors (1-2) but couldn't close the door. Catcher Emily Price hit a home run for Howland, while Chelsey Palumbo, Hannah Mowery, Lude and Maggie Stubbs (2) each had doubles for the Blue Devils. Marchio improved to 4-0.

Poland 17-10, Toledo Whitmer 0-0

POLAND

Erin Gabriel went a combined 7-for-8 with two homers in the two games and two doubles and came within a hit-batsman of a perfect game in the opener. Gabriel (3-0) struck out 11 and did not walk a batter in the first game. Adrienna Sikora went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Jenna Modic had two hits and four RBIs. In the second game, Modic (1-0) tossed a two-hitter with three strikeouts and a walk. She also doubled and drove in a run, while Chelsea McRee had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs for Poland (4-0). Toledo Whitmer is 1-5.

Ursuline 3, Magnificat 1

Nicholette Maderitz pitched a six-hitter with eight strikeouts and a walk to get the win. Maderitt also hit a solo homer, while Bri Curd and Marina Bermann each had two hits.

Nicholette Maderitt tossed a two-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks and also hit a three-run homer. Dana Creatore had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs and Kelli Kolenich had two hits, including a double, for Ursuline (4-2).

Kristin Robinson homered and doubled for the Raiders (7-1) at the Fields of Dreams. Madison Yanek tossed a four-hitter, striking out 10 and walking two. She also doubled,

Madison Yanek had three hits while Morgan Renforth had two for the Raiders (8-1). Gab Naples and Stevie Taylor doubled. Winning pitcher Darrian Yanek (3-0) struck out five and walked one. Julie Sokol started on the mound for the Spartans and took the loss. Alex DiDomenico and L. Olsen doubled.

COLUMBIANA

Desiree Walker’s two-out two-run double in the seventh inning drove home the winning runs for the Bulldogs (3-1, 2-0 Inter Tri-County League Tier One). Winning pitcher Karly Pence struck out 11, walked five and contributed three hits. Kari Seddon also had three hits while Carly Blair homered and Nicole Kiehl doubled in Thursday’s game. For the Clippers (2-3, 0-3), Khylee Fullum hit two doubles and Paige Macklin had one.
