GCO flower show booked at Holiday Inn

The Garden Club of Ohio Inc. will sponsor a flower show from 2:30 to 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Holiday Inn South, 7410 South Ave., in conjunction with the 83rd annual GCO convention.

“The Gems of Youngstown” will be showcased in floral tributes and in “Petals and Twigs” horticulture from throughout the state.

Rescue Mission to honor volunteers

The Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley is celebrating National Volunteer Week by inviting individuals and groups who serve as Rescue Mission volunteers to a special brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the administrative offices, 2247 Glenwood Ave. No reservations are required.

“Celebrating People in Action” is the theme for National Volunteer Week, a week to inspire by example. The week was initiated by executive order of President Richard Nixon in 1974.

Library is paging kids to drop in for program

SALEM

Salem Public Library is celebrating spring and Earth Day by introducing Craft Kids, a drop-in program specifically for preschoolers and students up to the sixth grade. Younger children will need to have adult assistance.

The spring craft program will be from 10 a.m. to noon from April 18 to 21 at the Quaker Room of the library, 821 E. State St.

The program will be followed by an appearance of Outback Ray and his Amazing Animal Show at 11 a.m. April 22. This free presentation is open to families with children under 12. Registration is required by calling 330-332-0042 or by signing up at the library.

4-H Equine Affair

JEFFERSON, OHIO

Ashtabula Saddle Horse Committee is presenting the Ashtabula County 4-H Equine Affair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 23 at Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School, corner of state Route 167 and Garrette Road.

Visitors will have an opportunity to talk to equine vets, judges and blacksmiths and representatives of feed mills, tack shops and Mounted Shooting. There will be a basket auction, 50-50 raffle and an Easter egg hunt.
