Ohio’s Civil War Sesquicentennial scheduled events include:

Today, Columbus: Civil War troops on the Statehouse lawn. A muster ceremony will take place on the west lawn of the Statehouse, re-creating the mustering of troops for the 1st Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Free and open to the public. Information: ohiocivilwar150.org or call 614 336-7311.

Tuesday, Fremont: The Hayes Presidential Center opens “Civil War: Battlefield & Homefront,’’ featuring stories of Northwestern Ohioans whose lives were changed by their wartime experiences. The exhibit runs through Jan. 29, 2012.

April 12, Belpre: The Belpre Historical Society celebrates “Mr. Lincoln’s Camera Man: An Evening with Matthew Brady” with Mark Holbrook, an Ohio Humanities Scholar, as Matthew Brady.

Friday through April 17, Lancaster: “The Men, the Battles and the Agreements” features historians John Marszalek and Craig Symonds who will talk about Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman and Confederate Gen. Joseph E. Johnston. Opens Friday evening with the unveiling of the restored Shiloh cannon at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds. Events Saturday and Sunday at the Wilson Ballroom, Chestnut and Broad, Lancaster.

Saturday, Cincinnati: Walking tour “Cincinnati in the Civil War,” 10 am to noon. Tickets are $10.

Saturday and April 17, Marietta: “A Country Divided: The Start of the Civil War in Marietta.” The Castle museum, 418 Fourth St., will host interpretive talks, tours and displays. Information: call 740 373-4180 or visit www.mariettacastle.org

April 30-May 1, Mansfield: Civil War Collectors and Artillery Show. The event will feature military material from 1775 through 1945, a 30-gun artillery show, six-gun battery firing and encampment. Richland County Fairgrounds, Mansfield. Information: www.ohiocivilwarshow.com

May 20-22, Sunbury: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Rosecrans Headquarters Unit will have a Civil War living-history pageant. Festivities include school tours, public demonstrations and an evening ball. Information: http://RosecransHeadquarters.org/Pageant.htm

May 21-22, Sharonville: Heritage Village Museum will have its annual re-enactment with infantry, artillery and cavalry units from both sides filling the historic village. Battles will take place both days at 2 p.m. Information: 513 563-9484 or visit www.heritagevillagecincinnati.org.

May 30, Dayton: The Sherman Camp Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will stage a Memorial Day honors and commemoration ceremony in the Grand Army of the Republic section of Historic Woodland Cemetery, 118 Woodland Ave. Information: http://www.woodlandcemetery.org.

June 18-19, Painesville: “The Great Encampment and Battle Re-enactment.” One of Ohio’s largest encampments and re-enactments will cover several acres of the Lake County History Center. July 9, Portland: Buffington Island Commemorative Service. The Ohio Department Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will host a commemoration service at the Buffington Island Battlefield State Memorial in Portland at 11 a.m. state Route 124 north of U.S. Route 33, Meigs County.

July 29-31, Hamilton County: Camp Dennison was home to one of the largest training and hospital camps in the Union Army. The event will feature demonstrations of camp life including drilling, training and shooting.

Aug. 7, Coshocton: Roscoe Village will feature “The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln: The Hunt for John Wilkes Booth.” Information: http://www.roscoevillage.com/.

Sept. 17-18, Zoar: More than 1,000 Civil War soldiers and civilians invade the historic village of Zoar, in one of the largest Civil War re-enactments ever in Ohio. Sponsored by Zoar Community Association. Information: http://www.zoarcivilwar.com/index.html
