Pig Iron Literary and Art Works will celebrate National Poetry Month by hosting its second open poetry reading Tuesday at the Art Outreach Gallery in the Eastwood Mall, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road.

‘Trek’ director’s new frontier will be novels
NEW YORK
“Star Trek” director J.J. Abrams is headed for a new frontier: novels.
Abrams has a deal with Little, Brown and Company to write a thriller. The publisher said Wednesday that the book would be a collaboration with award-winning novelist Doug Dorst and come out in the fall of 2012 through the Mulholland Books imprint.
Abrams’ movie credits include “Star Trek,” “Mission: Impossible III” and the upcoming “Super 8.” For television, he is the co-creator of “Lost” and “Fringe.”
Richardson wins $50,000 poetry prize
NEW YORK
James Richardson, a poet who specializes in short verse and aphorisms, has won the $50,000 Jackson Poetry Prize.
Richardson’s books include “By the Numbers” and “Vectors.”
The award was started in 2007 and is given to an American poet of “exceptional talent who deserves wider recognition.”
