Submit info for Holy Week, Easter

The Vindicator will run a listing of area services in observance of Palm Sunday, April 17; Holy Thursday, April 21; Good Friday, April 22; Holy Saturday, April 23; and Easter, April 24. The deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. Wednesday. Publication will be April 16.

Information should include the denomination and name of the church, address, city or suburb, the day, time, type of service, your name and a phone number for verification.

Parish mission

St. Patrick Church, 367 N. Main St., will offer a parish mission titled “Isaiah 43” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday. Presentations each evening will be by Deacon Dick and Rose Marie Lombard from Isaiah Ministries of Rochester, N.Y.

They are: “God’s Unconditional Love” on Sunday; “God’s Unconditional Forgiveness” and communal penance service on Monday; “God’s Unconditional Healing”on Tuesday; and “God’s Empowering Love” on Wednesday.

A reception with refreshments will follow each presentation.

Christian concert

The Greens, a nationally- known gospel music ministry from Fulton, N.Y., will present a Christian music concert at 11 a.m. April 17, Palm Sunday, at the Salvation Army, 270 Franklin St. S.E.

The vocal duo is composed of Les Green, who sang for many years with the award-winning quartet “The Envoys,” and his wife Linda, who added her alto voice in 1986.

Revival planned

The Baptist Pastors’ Council of Youngstown and Vicinity will sponsor a Simultaneous Revival, “Stay on the Wall,” beginning with a service at 5 p.m. Sunday at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., with the Rev. Kenneth L. Simon.

The revival will be Tuesday through Thursday with 10 a.m. services those days at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 351 W. Rayen Ave.

Passion drama

A free performance of “For You, For Me,” a Palm Sunday drama of music and movement, will be presented at Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, at 6 p.m. April 17.

The Passion play will be performed by “SSMMJ4J” – Students on a Spiritual Mime Ministry Journey 4 Jesus – a group of young people from the Mahoning Valley directed by Lenny and Kay Suzelis.

Youngstown chapter

The Rev Josephine Haropico will be guest speaker when Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries International, an interdenominational ministry, meets April 18 at the Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park.

Special worship music will be provided by Steve and Sandy Karchar.

Fellowship will begin at 6 p.m. with the ministry at 6:30.

Ushers’ Day program

Community Church of God, 710 Sanderson Ave., will present an Ushers’ Day program at 4 p.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Lewis W. Macklin II, pastor of Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Youngstown. Host pastor is the Rev. Eric U. Brown Sr.

Harvest Point Church in the Lordstown Plaza, 6100 Tod Ave., will celebrate its new building addition during dedication services at 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday.

Speaker will be from Gospel Temple Baptist Church in Campbell.

Mahoning and Trumbull County Suicide Prevention Coalition will sponsor a free breakfast program for area clergy from 7:30 to 10 a.m. April 26 at Help Hotline Community Center, 1344 Fifth Ave.

Reservations are due by Friday.

Ancient rituals

Do you have an interest in the ancient rituals of the Eastern Orthodox Church?

The Rev. Andrew Gromm has a weekly lesson at 6 p.m. Thursdays at St. Michael Orthodox Church, 127 Steel St. These lessons focus on the liturgy’s origins from the first to fourth centuries, but also beyond this era.

Father Gromm also is on the radio at noon Saturdays on WSOM AM 600.

Passover meal

Stewart Weinisch of Jews for Jesus will re-create the traditional Passover service and explain how it foreshadowed Jesus’ death and resurrection in a presentation called “Christ in the Passover” at Four Mile Run Christian Church, 701 N. Four Mile Run Road, at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Weinisch will set a table with items traditionally used at the Passover meal and detail their spiritual significance.
