Six area middle school students, including Tyler Lefoer of Austintown, Maggie Beistel of Canfield, Patrick Landers of Canfield, Amanda Fisher of Lordstown, Angelo Donadio of Howland and Raquel Abel of Canfield are preparing to go ‘Down Under’ this summer as delegates with the nationally-acclaimed People To People Student Ambassadors programs.

They have been actively studying the country of Australia where they will be traveling to famous destinations such as the Great Barrier Reef, Ayer’s Rock and the Sydney Opera House.

They have collected clothing and other items that were donated to the Mission of Love foundation.

While serving as ambassadors, they will experience and share American customs as well as learn of the host country’s living and cultures, such as learning to throw a boomerang and more.

This 15-day experience is self-funded through support of friends, family and supporters.

Through their hard work and efforts, students are planning to return home to share this life-changing experience with others.

The delegation adviser for the group is Harold Wilson of Austintown, a 37-year veteran educator and leader.

If any area student would like information about future planned events, call Wilson at 330-799-4871.
