The life of a Mom can be busy and stressful — and that’s no April Fools joke.
North Elementary’s PTO gave moms a welcome break on April 1 through a Mother-Son film night.
“As a mom, my life is always go, go, go,” said PTO chair of the event, Sarah Orr. “This is just a chance for our students to spend a nice night with mom and have a relaxing evening.”
The Friday night event welcomed the guests to North’s all-purpose room, where a projector and screen were set up to watch the movie “Megamind.” Buttery popcorn for the event was donated by Cinema South, and movie treats were available to buy, with funds benefiting Poland’s Relay for Life.
The boys and their moms brought camping chairs, beanbags and blankets so they could cuddle together. The PTO loaned two cushy recliners from La-Z-Boy for the night and raffled off the chance to sit in the chair during the movie, which Domi Sabrin and his mom, Tammy, enjoyed for the night.
Since the event took place on April Fools’ Day, the PTO also took the chance to have a little fun. They began to play the movie “Barbie Masquerade” before there were some good-natured complaints from the boys.
As the real movie began, North student Christian Justice moved in close to his mom, Chris.
“I worked hard all week,” Chris Justice whispered. “This is a wonderful break for the both of us.”
