Celebrate Easter at Prince of Peace
Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2985 Center Road, is hosting Maundy Thursday April 21, Good Friday April 22 and a Saturday Vigil April 23 at 7 p.m.
The congregation will celebrate Easter Sunday with Holy Communion April 24 at 10 a.m.
Have lunch and shop
The Saxon Club will host a flea market Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the ballroom at 710 S. Meridan Road.
Eat-in or takeout lunch will be available after 11 a.m. and will include German sausage sandwiches, sauerkraut, hot dogs, chicken dumpling soup, chips, soft drinks and coffee.
A $1 grocery bag sale will be made public after 1:30 p.m., excluding jewelry.
Monies raised will support various projects of Ladies Branch 22 Society including local charities.
YMCA offering swim lessons to community
In keeping with its youth development and healthy living mission, the YMCA of Youngstown is offering special swim lessons to children in the community.
During the two-week course, area children will have the chance to pick up new swimming techniques and learn about water safety before the summer season begins.
The Community Swim Lessons are available to children ages 3 to 12 and a special class will be hosted for children ages 6 to 36 months.
Classes run through April 15, Tuesday through Friday and are offered at both branches. Registration is $35. Membership is not required to take part in this event.
Classes at the Davis Branch for ages 3 to 12 are from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Classes for ages 6 to 36 months are from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Classes at the Central Branch for ages 3 to 12 are 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Classes for 6 to 36 months are from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Farm Bureau hosts briefing for residents
Mahoning County business and community leaders, as well as interested residents, are invited to attend a special oil and gas leasing issues briefing, sponsored by the Mahoning County Farm Bureau.
The briefing will be at the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana/Canfield Rd., Canfield Thursday at 7 p.m.

St. Elizabeth’s hosts May golf outing
St. Elizabeth Health Center will host its fourth annual Trauma Service Golf Outing May 22 at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Hubbard.
Registration will begin at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The cost is $75 per single player or $300 per foursome and includes golf, cart, prizes and food. Cash prizes will be awarded.
Registration deadline is May 12. The event will support trauma center outreach and injury prevention programs.

PPC hosts forum
Poland Presbyterian Church will host a forum for local government representatives to explain operating levies on the May ballot.
Speakers from the Poland Board of Education, Poland Township, and the Western Reserve Fire District will discuss the need for their levies Sunday at 10 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.

Poland Presbyterian Church will host a fundraiser for the Dubec Family Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
The dinner will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, desserts, coffee or lemonade.
Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for children 10 to 3 and free for children 3 and younger.
Tickets can be purchased before and after church or at the dinner.
There will be a basket auction during the dinner.
Curves hosts food drive
Curves of Poland, 3040 Center Road, is hosting it annual food drive through April.
Residents can drop off non-perishable items at Curves Monday through Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Fridays until 6 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.
Non-members can bring a bag of canned goods through April 17 and join Curves without a service fee. All food will be donated to the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.
Historical society meets
The Poland Historical Society will host regular meetings the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Little Red School House, 4515 Center Road.

Book the bus to Rivers Casino
The Relay of Life of Poland team will take two charter buses to Rivers Casino In Pittsburgh April 16.
The cost per person is $40, which includes travel expense, $15 in slot play and a $5 food voucher.
The bus will leave at 5 p.m. from the Poland Medical Center, 6615 Clingan Road and return laster that night. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Poland. Tickets are available by calling Jen Greco at 330-720-8731.
Celebrate Bluebell season and sip wine

Join the Poland branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County Wednesdays in April at 10 a.m. for developmentally-appropriate books, songs, rhymes, finger plays and other activities that will help your child become a successful reader. This event is for children ages 6 to 23 months old.
This event is also available for 2 and 3-year-olds Thursdays in April at 10:30 a.m. and for 4 and 5-year-olds Thursdays in April at 1 p.m.

Business Women host Chinese auction
Tri-Gold Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association will host its fifth annual Chinese Auction at St. Nick’s Hall in Struthers today at 12:30 p.m.
The cost is $5 and includes a sheet of bidding tickets, a door prize entry and refreshments.
All proceeds go toward the annual scholarship fund given to area students.

MCCTC offering salon appointments to public
The Cosmetology students at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center are now offering afternoon hours at their salon to the public.
Afternoon appointments are available starting at noon.
All services are performed by students under the supervision of their instructor and prices start at just $6.
Services include haircuts, hairstyles, perms, relaxers, facials, hair removal, hair color and manicures.
The salon will be open now until May by appointment only.
