Niles Historical Society has been planning a series of activities to take place this spring and summer.

The first event will be a dinner at 6 p.m. April 26 at Ciminero’s Banquet Center, where the doors will open at 5:15 and guests will be greeted by a slide presentation of old pictures of Niles.

The speaker will be Shirley Griffin of Salem, whose theme will be “Fetch the What-cha-ma-call-it.” Members are encouraged to take items that might stump the audience. Door prizes will be awarded.

The donation for the evening is $20 and reservations are to be made by calling 330-544-2143 by April 18.

An open house was scheduled for May 1 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Ward Thomas Museum, where there will be a display of hand-painted china and where a “Department 56” collection will be exhibited for the first time.

Projects for the year will be discussed and forms for a flower sale will be distributed. For tickets for the dinner or more information on the sale call the above number.
