The Fitch boys track and field team placed first out of 17 teams at the William E. Ward Invitational at East Palestine High School April 2.

Waylan Andrews won the running events MVP award by placing first in the 100 meters and 400 meters and was a member of the winning 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams. Jay Jakovina took home the field events MVP award after winning the high jump and placing second in the long jump.

Other first-place finishers for the Falcons were Jake Miller in the 300-meter hurdles, Bill Price in the discus, the 4x100 relay team of Ty’Reese Anderson, Tarise Wolfe, Rob Venters and Nathan Bowlen; the 4x200 relay team of Wolfe, Andrews, Venters and Bowlen, which set a meet and stadium record of 1:30.60; and the 4x400 relay team of Jakovina, Venters, Bowlen and Andrews.
