Valerie Edwards, 58, of East 135th Street in Cleveland was acquitted Wednesday of a misdemeanor trademark- counterfeiting charge after a three-day trial in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Edwards was charged with the offense Feb. 12, 2010, after a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol made a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike in Trumbull County during which two syringes of suspected heroin and cases containing about 65 DVDs were found in the vehicle Edwards was riding in.
The patrolman told Edwards during the traffic stop that the DVDs appeared to be counterfeit, to which Edwards replied, “There’s no more than six of those that I bought.”
