STRUTHERS

Ben Angelo and Brad Smith each had two hits and two RBIs while Anthony Ross had two hits and three RBIs for Canfield (2-0). Joe Tuchek had two hits and an RBI.

Josh Midgley and Tyler Rhodes combined for the two-hit shutout.

Niles 8, Hubbard 2

NILES

Mike Watson pitched 13 strikeouts over seven innings and knocked in three runs for the Red Dragons. Tyler Wiery and Joe Livi had two hits apiece for Niles. One of Livi’s hits was a double.

Mike Lopuchovsky’s two hits led Hubbard.

Girard 6, Champion 5

GIRARD

Ryan Trimbur capped a huge day at the plate with an RBI double with two outs in the seventh to give Girard (3-1) a come-from-behind victory.

The hit scored Brandon Hunkus, who tied the game with single earlier in the inning.

Trimbur also hit two home runs and had four RBIs.

Tyler Chinchic had a double for Champion (0-2).

Newton Falls 14, Brookfield 2

NEWTON FALLS

Tyler Kernan was 4-for-4 with four RBIs and also pitched a five-inning complete game, striking out 14.

Shaun Haines had three hits, Cody Pelyak had two and Chance Marsh drove in a pair of runs for Newton Falls (3-0), which scored 14 runs on 14 singles.

Struthers 10, Beaver Local 1

LISBON

Joe Diloreto struck out nine in five innings to pick up his first victory for Struthers (2-1).

Dylan Duchek went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs and Diloreto had two RBIs and scored three runs.

Massillon Jackson 5, Fitch 3

MASSILLON

James Feller had two singles and an RBI for Jackson (2-0, 1-0) which scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to snap a 3-3 tie.

Junior Logan Kane had two doubles and two RBIs, senior Ron DeAmicis had two singles and Kevin Sierra had a single and scored twice for Fitch (0-1, 0-1 Federal League).

Senior John Valentine (0-1) pitched five strikeouts over six innings, allowing eight hits and no walks.

Lowellville 13, McDonald 0

MCDONALD

Tony Schialdone picked up the victory on the mound and hit a solo home run.

Mike Raschilla had both hits for McDonald (1-4).

Crestview 11, Mineral Ridge 1

COLUMBIANA

Winning pitcher Tom Marnejon struck out 10 and tossed a five-hitter in breaking the Crestview record for career victories.

Brian Orr doubled and drove in three runs while Marnejon had a double and two RBIs.

Matt May scored two runs and drove in two while Logan Schaefer and Brandon Brooks each had one RBI.

For the Rams, Dan Ferguson doubled and Tom Robbins had two hits.

Columbiana 9, Ursuline 1

COLUMBIANA

Luke Barker pitched a four-hitter with no walks and Matt Douglas had two RBIs for the Clippers (4-1).

Andrew Burdick and Jeff Davidson both had two hits including doubles while Hayden Sneltzer and Bryce Miner had two hits apiece.

Western Reserve 4, Leetonia 1

BERLIN CENTER

John Gora allowed two hits and struck out five over six innings for Western Reserve (2-2, 1-2 Inter Tri-County League Tier Two).

Gora, Adam Smith, John Rosati, James Wolfe and Thomas Benyo had Western Reserve’s hits including doubles by Smith and Gora.

Benyo and Rosati both knocked in a run and Benyo also had a stolen base.

For Leetonia, Cody Stokes and Ian Sevenich had a hit apiece and Stokes knocked in a run.

Sevenich also stole a base and scored a run for the Bears (1-3, 1-2).

Stokes had nine strikeouts.

Sebring 5, Jackson-Milton 1

SEBRING

Tyler Whitlatch had 10 strikeouts and during four-hitter and Aaron Oblisk had two singles and one stolen base for Sebring (6-0, 3-0 ITCL).

Sophomore Brandon Mitchell had the lone RBI for Jackson-Milton (0-2, ITCL 0-1) when junior John Gherardi scored in the fourth inning.

Pymatuning Valley 9,

Mathews 3

VIENNA

A seven-run second inning propelled Pymatuning Valley, which got seven strikeouts during six innings of relief from Kyle Kiser.

Kiser also had two hits and Cody Ellis doubled for the only hits by the Lakers (3-0, 1-0 NAC).

Zach Granelly had two hits for Mathews (1-1, 0-1 NAC).

Alliance 6, West Branch 2

ALLIANCE

Austin Croteau, Jared Grimes, and Mark Pisanello all went 2 for 4 and Nathan Rice pitched seven strong innings and struck out 13 for Alliance (5-0).

Brendan Wells went 2 for 3 with a triple for West Branch, which falls to 2-4.
