Man questioned, released in officer’s shooting
CLAIRTON, Pa. (AP) — Allegheny County detectives have released a man they questioned in Monday’s shooting of a Pittsburgh-area police officer.
Detectives didn’t release the man’s name or say what prompted them to question him in connection with the shooting of Clairton Officer James Kuzak.
The 39-year-old officer was critically wounded and might wind up paralyzed after being shot three times while responding to an armed home invasion in the crime-ridden suburb about 10 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
Twenty-one-year-old Myles Hutchinson, of McKeesport, is in jail. He faces a preliminary hearing Tuesday on charges in the home invasion and Kuzak’s shooting.
Meanwhile, community officials and friends are planning a vigil in support of Kuzak from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday in Clairton.
