2 break-ins in 3 days at Salsitas Restaurant

Austintown

Township police are investigating two break-ins at a local Mexican Restaurant that occurred two days apart.

Officers were first called to Salsitas Restaurant on Clarkins Drive just before

5 a.m. Tuesday after an alarm sounded. Someone had thrown paper towels filled with rocks and sand through a front window, gaining entry, police said. No one was inside when officers arrived, but $200 was missing from a cash register.

Two days later, about

2:10 a.m. Thursday, police responded again to an alarm. Upon arrival, officers noticed another window had been smashed out using a large rock. Nothing was found missing. It’s unknown if the two incidents are related, but police said they’ve increased patrols around the establishment.

According to a report, two officers checked the restaurant about 10 minutes before the alarm was triggered Thursday morning.
