LAKE MILTON
Township police charged five people and are looking for a sixth for their alleged involvement in a robbery and kidnapping scheme.
Lt. Jeffrey Lewis said Zackary Justice, 22, of Maple Heights; Aaron Mayne, 26, of North Jackson; Jordan Lukanec, 26, of Berlin Center; Carlee Ripley, 21, of Newton Falls; and Jordan Mountain, 20, of North Jackson; are in Mahoning County jail without bond on charges of kidnapping, robbery and theft.
Police are still searching for David Devellin, 24, of Canfield.
Lewis said police began making arrests after a 24-year-old Beloit man showed up naked on the doorstep of a house in Milton Township at about 6:40 p.m. Sunday looking for help.
He said he’d been taken by the group from the Austintown Walmart to Eciks Cemetery in Milton, where the group dragged him from the car, beat and kicked him and stripped him naked before leaving with his clothes and $1,000, Lewis said.
“They thought [the victim] had stolen some money from them, so they concocted this plan,” the lieutenant said. Lewis said the victim was covered in bruises and had a broken nose as a result of the beating.
The lieutenant said Devellin will face an additional charge of intimidation because he allegedly threatened to kill the victim.
Justice was arraigned Wednesday in Mahoning County Area Court in Austintown. Mayne, Lukanec, Ripley and Mountain are scheduled for arraignment in the court at 4 p.m. Monday.
