2 held in hidden camera abuse at assisted living facility
HAVERFORD, Pa. (AP) — Two employees at a suburban Philadelphia assisted living facility are facing assault charges over the abuse of a dementia patient that authorities say was captured on a hidden camera installed by the victim’s family.
Delaware County District Attorney Michael Green says 22-year-old Samirah Traynham and 21-year-old Tyrina Griffin physically or verbally abused the 78-year-old patient at the Quadrangle Assisted Living Facility in Haverford.
Green says the woman’s daughter and son-in-law installed a nanny cam in the victim’s room after she complained of abuse and they noticed unexplained bruises on her body.
Traynham is free on bail. A message left a phone listing for her was not immediately returned.
Griffin told reporters following her arrest that any mistreatment “wasn’t intentional.”
More arrests are possible.
