Police: Cop shooting suspect posed as FBI agent
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Allegheny County police say a man charged with critically wounding a Pittsburgh-area police officer who responded to a home invasion had pretended to be an FBI agent to gain entrance to the residence.
Those details and others are included in a 12-page criminal complaint released early today after 21-year-old Myles Hutchinson, of McKeesport, was jailed following his arraignment on attempted homicide and other charges in the shooting of Clairton police officer James Kuzak.
Police are still trying to identify a second suspect they say was with Hutchinson when he forced his way into the Clairton residence about 10:45 p.m. Monday night. Police say the men were looking for money and drugs and that Kuzak and two other officers arrived while the robbery was in progress.
Police say the robbery victims were able to identify Hutchinson from a photo lineup after he and the other man burst out through a rear door, shooting Kuzak three times. The officer remains in a Pittsburgh hospital.
