Craft beer festival plans promo party

A preview party for The Big Tap-In craft beer festival will be from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Vintage Estate, 7317 South Ave. The Big Tap-In will be April 30 at the Shepherd Event Center, and will feature a performance by Boardman singer Sarah Turner, as well as more than 150 craft beers for sampling and regional food specialties.Tickets can be purchased at thebigtapin.com; in person at Vintage Estate; and by calling HandsOn Volunteer Network at 330-782-5877.

Vintage Estate, the major sponsor of the festival, will announce the selected beers and entertainment at Saturday’s pre-event party.

‘Idol’ finalist plans hometown show

PORT CLINTON, Ohio

Last season’s “American Idol” runner-up is coming home for a concert near her tiny hometown in northwest Ohio. Crystal Bowersox will perform July 9 at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds near Port Clinton.

It was just under a year ago that Bowersox finished second on the Fox singing competition. She has an album out and is planning a tour. Tickets for the July show go on sale at May 16 and will cost $25.

Palin pregnancy was profitable

ANCHORAGE, Alaska

Tax documents show uned mother Bristol Palin earned more than $262,000 for her role helping raise awareness for teen pregnancy prevention in 2009.

The 20-year-old daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was 18 when she was appointed as a teen ambassador for the Candie’s foundation in 2009, months after giving birth to son, Tripp. She and the 2-year-old boy’s father are no longer together.

Foundation officials did not immediately return calls to comment.
