Robotics team wins
WARREN
The Warren G. Harding robotics team, Team 48 Delphi ELITE, won first place in the Smoky Mountain regional robotics competition in Knoxville, Tenn., over the weekend, meaning it has qualified for the FIRST Championship in St. Louis, April 27-30.
Team 48 finished with an 8-2-0 record and the No. 3 seed out of 50 teams. Team 48 has an offensive-power rating of 55.9, which ranks it 18th out of 1,799 teams worldwide. The team will compete in one more regional competition in Raleigh, N.C., this weekend.
Recycling site
CHAMPION
The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste District has a new recycling drop-off site at the Trumbull Career and Technical Center, 528 Educational Highway.
The site is open during daylight hours seven days a week. Materials accepted in the green containers are glass bottles and jars, aluminum cans and foil, steel food cans and plastics with a number 1 through 7 symbol on or near the bottom. A container also is available for newspapers, magazines, junk mail and office papers.

An 18-year-old township woman accused of stabbing her 16-year-old sister in the thigh with a screwdriver will appear in court this morning. Police arrested Jacquelyne D. Lewis around 1 a.m. Saturday after receiving a call to an Erskine Avenue residence for a fight between two sisters, according to reports.
Police said the two sisters had a verbal fight over who was going to use the computer, and then they started pushing each other. The 16-year-old said that Lewis drove the screwdriver several inches into her leg, and police found the screwdriver, reports state. Lewis was charged with domestic violence and felonious assault.
