Links chapter’s health fair will draw ‘300 Sisters in Red’

The Youngstown Chapter of The Links, Inc. will have its annual health fair, “300 Sisters in Red,” from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 16 at Youngstown State University’s Kilcawley Center.

The focus of the health fair is to support the campaign for Women’s Heart Health Awareness. Information about heart disease, diabetes and breast cancer will be among the topics discussed.

The schedule of events follows:

Free health screenings: 8 to 10 a.m. Total, HDL, LDL cholesterol and blood sugar (appointment required along with 12-hour fast), blood pressure, body fat, bone density, heart health assessment, stroke risk assessment, and colon cancer screening. Also available will be massages, interactive fitness, refreshments and informational displays.

Interactive fitness sessions: featuring Jaison Boyd, certified fitness trainer, 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and 9:15 to 9:45 a.m.

Breakout sessions: 8:30 to 9 a.m.: “Etiology, Treatment and Rehabilitation of the Lupus Patient” presented by Dr. Beverly Robert-Atwater, DO, PhD; 9:30 to 10 a.m. “Menopause” presented by Dr. Joni S. Canby, DO, FACOOG; 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., featured guest speaker, Dr. Darrell Lynn Grace, DO.

Attire will be casual, but wear red to support Women’s Heart Health Awareness. Dress appropriately if planning to exercise.

Participants must park in the M2 deck on Fifth Avenue, where parking will be free.
