City schools performance audit suggests layoffs


State Auditor Dave Yost’s office this morning released a performance audit for the Youngstown City School with $6.3 million in recommendations for savings.

Included in the recommendations which cover financial systems, transportation and human resources is a suggestion to reduce staffing levels by 64 full-time employees for an annual savings of about $2.3 million.

Also included is a recommendation to reduce health insurance for a $1.7 million savings.
