Boardman baseball sweeps Dublin Scioto


DUBLIN

The Boardman High baseball team started its season off with a sweep of Dublin Scioto, winning Boardman 11-3 and 8-4.

Johnny Fithian, Alec Neapolitan and Jake Stauffer combined on the pitching in the first came, with Fithian earning the win.

He allowed five hits and struck out four in four innings.

Danny Popio hit a two-run homer for the Spartans, while Derek Pasquale added a triple.

In the second game, Carmen Tarantino went 5 for 5 with a triple and two RBIs.

Joey Markovitch added a double and single.

BAZETTA TOWNSHIP

The Lisbon High softball team won last weekend’s Irish Strike Out Cancer Invitational sponsored by Ursuline with a 3-0 record. Western Reserve took second place with a 2-1 record.

Other teams that participated were Ursuline, West Branch, East Palestine, St. Thomas Aquanis, Mathews and Warren JFK.

Saturday scores were: Warren JFK 12, St Thomas Aquanis 2; Lisbon 1, Ursuline 0 (8 innings); Western Reserve 4, Mathews 0; East Palestine 6, West Branch 0; Lisbon 6, Mathews 0; and Western Reserve 11, East Palestine 10.
