The Youngstown-Warren Realtist Association, an organization representing African-American real-estate professionals in the Youngstown-Warren Area, will have a press conference at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Episcopal Church, 614 Parmalee Ave.
The organization will announce an ongoing college-scholarship fundraising effort and plans for a scholarship luncheon to honor Vivian Martin, one of its members who was murdered last September while showing a home on Youngstown’s East Side.
‘Paint on Pottery’

The D.D. & Velma Davis Family YMCA will have “Paint on Pottery” from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday. The event is sponsored by the YMCAnime and Arts and Humanities Department of the Davis YMCA, 45 McClurg Road. The cost ranges from $2 to $20, depending on what blank ceramic piece a participant chooses. Price includes ceramic piece, paint, glazes and firing. Projects can be picked up two weeks later. Raptor education

The Birds in Flight Sanctuary of Warren will present a raptor-education program at 7 p.m. April 16.
The program is sponsored by The Eagle Creek Conservation Club and will be at its facilities at 5525 Eagle Creek Road. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and seating is limited.
This program will give people an understanding, appreciation and concern for raptors and other wildlife and also will explain the licenses and training required to run a rehabilitation facility and the environmental issues involved, according to a club press release. Then the birds will be brought out one by one for their introduction.
‘Pisanki i Skrobanki’
NEW CASTLE, Pa.
“Pisanki i Skrobanki,” an egg-decorating and palm-weaving class, is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Parish Hall, 1708 S. Jefferson St.
A workshop fee of $5 includes materials and lunch. The workshop is limited to 50 participants. For more information, call Bernadette Przybylski at 724-658-8820.

Oratorical contest
NEW MIDDLETOWN
The Springfield Township Optimist Club will host the Zone 5 Oratorical Contest at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Springfield Intermediate School Auditorium on Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road (Route 170).
Students up to age 19 will deliver orations on the topic “If I were leader of the free world, the first issue I would address would be ...”
Contestants will be judged on poise, content, delivery and presentation and overall effectiveness. The speaker must observe a time limit of four to five minutes.
