Spin for local charities
Studio Oxygen Yoga and Fitness in the Hilltop Plaza in Canfield will host a Spin-A-Thon to benefit local charities April 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Bring a canned good to be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Sign-up and $10 per hour to spin is due April 9. Last class will begin at 3 p.m.
All proceeds will be donated to Silver Lining and Christina’s Garden.

Love gets high honors
Melissa Love earned the distinction of being on the Dean’s List for the Boler School of Business at John Carroll University for the fall and spring semester.
A student must earn a 3.50 or better grade point average for the semester to receive the honor.
Love is the daughter of Richard and Cheryl Love of Canfield.
Support Hospice, have pancakes
The Rotary Club of Canfield will host its 46th annual Pancake Breakfast April 10 at Canfield High School cafeteria from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Raffle tickets will be available for $20 for a chance to win a 2011 Lordstown built Chevy Cruze,
The car will be raffled Sept. 5 at the Canfield Fair, with the proceeds to benefit Hospice of the Valley and Canfield Rotary community projects.
The breakfast is $6 and includes all the pancakes you can eat, sausage, eggs, fruit, juice coffee and milk.
“Well in Body” lecture Tuesday
Local fitness expert Eve Bevilacqua will conduct ”Well in Body,” a session designed to teach participants new ways to stay fit without strenuous physical activity Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Ursuline Center.
Bevilacqua is currently the wellness director for Copeland Oaks/Crandall Medical Center in Sebring.
Each person attending will receive a stretch band and door prizes.
Although the lecture series is designed for adults 50 and over, all ages are welcome. A donation of $10 per session is requested. To register, call The Ursuline Center at 330-799-4941 or 330-533-3831.
Help clean up America
Individuals, neighborhoods, civic groups, youth groups, garden clubs, athletic teams and businesses in Canfield are encouraged to join in the Keep the Mahoning Valley Beautiful annual cleanup through May 31.
The Mahoning County Green Team will supply the vests, bags, gloves, release forms and other clean-up materials. Cleanups must be conducted on public lands only, such as vacant lots, streets, stretches of highway, medians, parks or waterfronts.
To volunteer, contact the recycling coordinator at 330-272-2138. The clean-up is run in conjunction with the Great American Clean-up.
Eat ice cream with the Easter Bunny
Visit the Easter Bunny April 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cornersburg Dairy Queen, 3555 S. Meridian Road.
Free candy-filled eggs and a live bunny display will be available.
Learn how to spot severe storms
Mahoning County Skywarn, a volunteer organization of weather spotters, will be conducting training on how to recognize approaching storms and tornadoes.

Take out dinner served Thursday
Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, will host its Take-out Thursday Dinner Thursday from 4 p.m. until sold out.
The cost for dinner is $7 and includes stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, green beans and brownie.
No reservations needed just drive through.
Bonding with babies and books
Join the Canfield branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County April 11 at 10 a.m. for developmentally-appropriate books, songs, rhymes, finger plays and other activities that will help your child become a successful reader. This event is for children ages 6 to 23 months old.
This event is also available for 2 and 3-year-olds Tuesdays in April at 10 a.m. and for 4 and 5-year-olds Tuesdays in April at 1:30 p.m.
Easter anagram contest
Children of all ages can unscramble the letters to find Easter words in the Canfield branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County’s anagram contest throughout the month of April during regular library hours.
Tales to Tails at library
Sign up to read to a registered therapy dog, which helps develop reading skills, promotes confidence and encourages a love of reading, at the Canfield branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County April 18 at 6:30 p.m.

Earth Day energy exam at library
Earth Day is April 22. Stop by the Canfield branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County throughout the month of April to take the Energy Exam. SClBIf you can tell what items/activities use the most energy, you could win a prize. This is for teens in grades seven through 12.
Band rehearsals open to the community
Musicians from the Valley are welcome to attend rehearsals with the Canfield Community Concert Band. The band meets every Tuesday evening at Canfield High School.

MCCTC offering salon appointments to public
The Cosmetology students at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center are now offering afternoon hours at their salon to the public.
Afternoon appointments are available starting at noon.
All services are performed by students under the supervision of their instructor and prices start at just $6.
Services include haircuts, hairstyles, perms, relaxers, facials, hair removal, hair color and manicures.
The salon will be open now until May by appointment only.

Business Women host Chinese auction
Tri-Gold Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association will host its fifth annual Chinese Auction at St. Nick’s Hall in Struthers April 9 at 12:30 p.m.
The cost is $5 and includes a sheet of bidding tickets, a door prize entry and refreshments.
All proceeds go toward the annual scholarship fund given to area students.

Homestead exemption outreach
Representatives from the Mahoning County Auditor’s Office will be available for Homestead Exemption questions and to help fill out applications at the Canfield branch of the public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Senior citizen and disabled homeowners will receive help applying for the Homestead Exemption on their Mahoning County property taxes.
Applicants must bring proof of age (driver’s license or copy of birth certificate) to apply.
Lenten breakfasts offered
Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Broad St., will host free Lenten breakfasts each Wednesday through April 20 from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Enjoy yoga every Tuesday
