Feb. 19

Theft: Four people left Sawa Steakhouse in Southern Park Mall without paying their $101.84 food bill.

Counterfeit: A man tried to pass a fake $20 bill at Walgreens Pharmacy, 7295 Market St.

Theft: Seth M. Hurlbutt, 18, of 165 Grimm Heights Drive, Struthers, was charged with taking a jacket, a wallet and a leather belt from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Two New Middletown girls, 16 and 17, were accused in the theft of a hat, makeup and jewelry from Walmart.

Theft: A vehicle’s rear license plate was stolen in the 8100 block of Tod Avenue.

Theft: Police charged 20-year-old Jennifer L. James, 6054 Applecrest Court, Boardman, and Joshua B. Heitman, 31, of 3695 Indian Run, Canfield, with stealing about $86 worth of home-improvement products from Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a shed in the 7800 block of Hitchcock Road and removed three lawn mowers and a weed trimmer.

Theft: A woman in her 20s stole 15 packs of women’s socks from Family Dollar, 4028 South Ave.

Fraud: A Melbourne Avenue woman told authorities she was defrauded of $3,085 when she tried to buy a truck via the Internet.

Criminal mischief: An obscenity was spray-painted on a vehicle’s quarter panel in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court.

Theft: A .380-caliber firearm and $5 were removed from a truck in the 1800 block of Lynn Mar Avenue.

Theft: Both license plates were stolen off a car in the 7300 block of Salinas Trail.

Feb. 20

Arrest: Jason S. Jablonski, 26, of 107 Hazel St., Girard, was arrested in the 5200 block of Market Street. He was wanted on a contempt-of-court charge.

Arrest: Police picked up 39-year-old TangelaL. Turner at her apartment, 294 Shields Road, Boardman, on a warrant from Struthers charging her with contempt of court.

Feb. 21

Arrest: Officers charged 27-year-old Christopher R. Gomez of Phoenix with disorderly conduct while intoxicated and telecommunications harassment after responding to someone in distress in the 7300 block of South Avenue. An intoxicated Gomez had called 911 and made threats, then challenged police to a fight, a report said.

Theft: A man in the 1700 block of Alverne Drive noticed $50, a pair of sunglasses and an operator’s license missing from his vehicle.

Theft: Someone took $15 from a car in the 300 block of Meadowbrook Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A key was used to damage a vehicle’s driver’s-side finish in the 7300 block of California Avenue.

Theft: A Cleveland boy, 16, was charged and released to the custody of his guardian after a $30 pellet gun was taken from Walmart.

Feb. 22

Menacing: A Sierra Madre Trail woman reported a worker she had fired drove past then stopped in front of her residence after having threatened her before being terminated.

Theft: Justin Real, 19, of 1640 Medford Ave., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of two men’s T-shirts from Macy’s.

Criminal mischief: Someone entered a vehicle in the 900 block of Larkridge Drive.

Theft: Two batteries and a piece of copper were stolen from Home Depot.

Theft: Roughly $10 was taken from a car in the 1700 block of Island Drive.

Domestic violence: Authorities charged 23-year-old Stephen L. Blanchard, 168 Clifton Drive, Boardman, with the crime after his girlfriend alleged Blanchard, during an argument, had hit and shoved her, causing the accuser to strike a wall.

Feb. 24

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Wolosyn Circle woman told police she loaned her 2004 Toyota Matrix to her son’s friend with the agreement the friend would pay her $4,300, yet she has not heard from the borrower.

Theft: Police charged Daniel T. Campbell, 30, of 215 Steel St., Youngstown, with the theft of five Xbox 360 games from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

Domestic violence: Austintown police handed 30-year-old Jonathan A. Kuzan, 160 S. Navarre Ave., Austintown, to Boardman authorities. Kuzan was wanted on a township warrant.

Harassment: A Midwood Circle man reported receiving 15 to 20 unwanted text messages over a two-month period.

Criminal damaging: A worker for a South Avenue long-term care facility returned to her car and noticed a windshield had been smashed and all of the tires flattened.

Misuse of a credit card: A Presidential Court man learned his credit card was used to buy $4,000 to $5,000 worth of merchandise over nine days.

Arrest: Police arrested 34-year-old David P. Rowbotham after he reported having been in a vehicular accident. Rowbotham, of 412 N. Schenley Ave., Youngstown, was wanted on a theft charge from Holmes County, Ohio.

Fraud: A Nova Lane woman reported having been scammed of $2,000 by a man she communicated with via an online dating service.

Theft: An $80 global-positioning-system device was taken from a car in the 7000 block of Tiffany Boulevard.

Theft: A 16-year-old North Lima boy was charged with stealing a pair of socks from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall and released to the custody of his mother.

Identity theft: A Stratmore Avenue woman discovered an $18 unauthorized charge to her checking account.

Domestic violence: Saleem M. Khan, 30, of 8036 Sigle Lane, Poland, was charged after a family member reported having been grabbed and pushed to the ground. Khan also faced charges of obstructing official business, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and abuse of a harmful intoxicant.

Feb. 25

Theft: A portable commode was stolen in the 500 block of East Western Reserve Road.

Fraud: A customer cashed a $2,200 check at Checksmart, 112 Boardman-Poland Road, later determined to be counterfeit.

Theft: A $200 GPS unit was removed from a vehicle in the 100 block of Argyle Avenue.

Theft by deception: A Gardenwood Drive man found out someone had applied for three student loans with his information.

Theft: Police charged Amanda M. Dean, 24, of 2730 Julian St., Youngstown, with stealing $31 worth of undergarments from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: The rear license plate was removed from a car in the 8500 block of Crossroads Drive.

Theft: Two pairs of jeans were stolen from The Buckle in the Southern Park Mall.

Feb. 26

Assaults: A Shields Road woman alleged her boyfriend, during an argument, bent and injured one of her fingers. Police said they later found her boyfriend with injuries to his head and face.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 8000 block of Market Street was found with a broken rear window.

Theft: A city boy, 14, was accused in the theft of two pieces of jewelry from Sears in the Southern Park Mall, then released to the custody of his guardian.

Theft: A woman stole five articles of clothing from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A $975 gold decorative bracelet clasp was taken from a Southern Park Mall kiosk.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 6200 block of South Avenue led to the arrest of 45-year-old Bertha M. Wilson, 2013 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, on a warrant from Alliance charging her with contempt of court related to an assault count. Wilson also faced a drug-possession charge when, police said, a bottle with pills not matching a prescription label was found.

Feb. 27

Criminal mischief: A Sierra Madre Trail man told police a neighbor tossed dog feces on the accuser’s back porch.

Theft/vandalism: Someone broke into a vehicle at a Southern Boulevard business, then stole two saws and other tools.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 1900 block of Wolosyn Circle by forced entry. A 42-inch plasma TV was taken.

Criminal damaging: Someone tossed eggs at and caused $250 in damage to a vehicle in the 7300 block of West Boulevard.

Theft: A woman discovered her wallet missing at an East Midlothian Boulevard store.

Arrest: Police arrested 26-year-old Matthew T. Downie, 6455 Diana Drive, Poland, on charges of obstructing official business and disorderly conduct. Downie had entered and refused to leave a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant after it closed, then failed to respond to officers, a report said.

Assault: A Youngstown woman alleged the landlord of a Sheridan Road apartment complex shoved her, causing the accuser to fall, during an argument about a bed frame.

Theft: A man stole a $110 pair of eyeglass frames from a Market Street eye-care business.

Feb. 28

Domestic violence: A 17-year-old township boy was charged after being accused of pushing his mother and a brother several times.

Harassment: A Forest Garden Drive woman said a former friend has made hundreds of unwanted calls during the past year.

Harassment: A Tippecanoe Drive woman told officers her former boyfriend sent her several such e-mails.

Theft: Two people stole clothing from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road, and fled in a vehicle.

Identity fraud: A Mathews Road man reported his personal information was used to open a credit-card account, and that he received a collections notice stating he owes $922.

Identity theft: A West Boulevard woman in the process of moving and requesting cable service at her new address discovered a 2008 balance of $300 from a cable company she never had service with.

Theft: A Fairweather Drive woman reported buying a $95 lamp online but never receiving it.

Thefts: Three cars in the 4300 block of Lake Park Drive had their catalytic converters removed.

Theft: Thirty-two Nintendo games and a $50 MP3 player were stolen from Toys “R” Us, 317 Boardman-Poland Road.

Burglary: Took place at a South Avenue trailer with a spare key. Stolen were a 32-inch TV, a DVD player and a cable box.

Aggravated menacing: Several employees with a Boardman-Poland Road eatery told police a former worker threatened to kill them and himself if anything else went wrong for him.

March 3

Theft: The rear license plate was removed from a vehicle in the 7100 block of Tiffany Boulevard.

Theft: Loretta L. Gilmore, 53, of 136 W. Warren Ave., Youngstown, faced a felony count after police said she admitted having stolen $781 worth of jewelry and other items from Goodwill Industries Inc., 285 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Domestic violence: Officers took into custody 53-year-old Cheryl L. Katz, 7505 Jaguar Drive, Boardman, on a warrant after Katz’s husband alleged she had pushed him, causing the accuser to strike a wall.

Identity fraud: An Aravesta Avenue man told police a relative used his personal information in an attempt to open a phone account.

Fraud: A Grover Drive man alleged his son made an unauthorized $140 purchase with the accuser’s credit card, then forged a check for $1,150.

March 4

Theft: A 26-inch flat-screen TV was removed from an apartment in the 5000 block of Aravesta Avenue.

Menacing: A driver near Southern Boulevard and U.S. Route 224 reported having been cut off by a motorist who had a gun in his hand, though the accuser said the other driver did not threaten him with the firearm.

Theft: A man at a Market Street motel discovered $347 missing from his wallet.

Arrest: Officers arrested 41-year-old Ross A. Francis, 6110 Market St., Boardman, on a probation-violation count related to a charge of telecommunications harassment.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a shed on a piece of Walker Mill Road property owned by Dominion East Ohio Gas Co. and stole a $2,500 microwave-radio transmitter.

Theft/damage: A vehicle in the 1500 block of Tamarisk Trail was found with a smashed window. Stolen was a laptop computer.

March 5

Theft: Twelve to 13 pairs of men’s jeans were stolen from Dillard’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Undergarments and a pair of hair clippers were stolen from Family Dollar, 4028 Market St.

Harassment: A Mathews Road woman reported receiving calls in violation of a protection order.

Vandalism: A window was broken at Hobby Lobby USA, 105 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Assault: Police charged 52-year-old Robert J. Schiffauer, 936 Shields Road, Boardman, with assault and aggravated menacing after a man at a Boardman-Canfield Road eatery reported having been punched several times and having a gun pointed at him.

Criminal damaging: A section of a fence was damaged in the 700 block of Indianola Road.

Harassment: Someone posted online a false advertisement intended to harass employees of Audio Extreme, 7000 Market St.

March 6

Assault: Police responded to a fight in the 7900 block of Glenwood Avenue. Injuries included a cut lip and left eye.

Theft: A worker for a Tiffany Boulevard restaurant reported her $600 cell phone stolen.

Domestic violence: Jennifer M. Mathie, 35, was taken into custody at her home, 7125 Trenholm Road, Boardman, and charged after her mother alleged Mathie had shoved her to the ground during an argument.

Attempted theft: A man in his 30s tried to steal four jackets from Dick’s Sporting Goods, 1280 Doral Drive.

Theft: Two DVD players were taken from Big Lots, 7110 South Ave.

Theft: Someone stole two packs of undergarments as well as tank tops from Dollar General, 271 Boardman-Canfield Road.

March 7

Menacing: An Aravesta Avenue woman complained of someone pounding on her door, screaming and making various accusations against her.

Aggravated menacing: A Glenwood Avenue woman told police someone in a parked car threatened to shoot her young son.

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone cut a rectangular section of glass to a utility garage at Cumulus Broadcasting Inc., 4040 Simon Road, apparently in an effort to break in.

Theft: Police charged Olivia C. Walser, 18, of 2369 E. Midlothian Blvd., Struthers, with the theft of a $40 pair of shoes from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Aggravated menacing: An Afton Avenue man reported a neighbor threatened to shoot him during an argument about loud music.

Identity theft: A Boardman-Canfield Road woman noticed an unauthorized $603 transaction to her debit card that had been made from an Orlando, Fla., gas station.

Domestic violence: A 16-year-old township girl was charged after her brother alleged the girl had punched him several times during an argument.

Criminal damaging: A man in the 7700 block of Glenwood Avenue discovered damage to his car’s antenna, body and passenger-side mirror.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 7700 block of Glenwood Avenue was found with damage to its rubber stripping and a window roller.

Theft: Police charged Venus J. Cataldo, 20, of 117 University Plaza, Youngstown, with stealing 16 pieces of jewelry from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Possible theft: A woman at a Tiffany Boulevard store noticed her Social Security card and other items had been lost or stolen from her purse.

March 8

Drug paraphernalia: Police cited 18-year-old Jonathan D. Negron, 3926 Hudson Drive, Boardman, during a traffic stop. Suspected marijuana debris and a suspected marijuana pipe were found, a report said.

March 16

Identity theft: A Youngstown woman alleged her sister used the accuser’s identity while being given a traffic citation near Midlothian Boulevard and South Avenue.

Identity theft: A Chester Drive woman reported receiving a letter stating she had a $205 outstanding balance on an account she had never opened.

Harassment: An Erskine Avenue woman told police a man in Fort Myers, Fla., has sent her such text messages.

Menacing: An Afton Avenue woman reported a person pulled into her driveway, called and asked to come inside her home.

Theft: Two TVs, a microwave oven and a set of pots and pans were among items taken from a residence in the 4000 block of South Avenue.

Arrest: Jeffrey M. Gallagher Jr., 28, of 125 Creed St., Struthers, faced charges of assault, endangering a child and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after a Boardman woman alleged an enraged Gallagher had tossed her to the ground and pushed her 3-year-old daughter, causing the girl to fall, before fleeing in the woman’s vehicle. Gallagher was later charged with theft after six pieces of jewelry were stolen from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A 17-year-old township boy was accused in the theft of a $30 solar charger from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Identity theft: While at a Boardman-Poland Road bank, a Cranberry Township, Pa., man discovered five unauthorized transactions totaling $1,383 had been made to his checking account.

Harassment: A Mill Creek Boulevard woman reported that since January, she’s gotten about 30 such calls.

March 17

Theft: Police took custody of 36-year-old John M. Begalla, 11903 Unity Road, New Middletown, on a felony warrant. He was accused of stealing more than $900 worth of tools from a garage in the 200 block of Meadowbrook Avenue.

Domestic violence: Dewayne Washington, 42, of 1025 Ohio Ave., Youngstown, was picked up on a warrant after a South Schenley Avenue woman alleged he had shoved and held her down during an argument.

Theft: All of a vehicle’s wheels and tires were removed at a Boardman-Canfield Road business.

Menacing: A Glenwood Avenue woman said her former boyfriend sent threatening text messages.

Identity fraud: A Hopkins Road man noticed multiple loans, credit cards and inquiries to his credit report that he never made or took out. Harassment: A Parkland Avenue woman reported receiving unwanted text messages.

Domestic violence: Wayne M. Dunning, 30, of 149 Stadler Court, Boardman, surrendered on a warrant after his girlfriend alleged Dunning had grabbed and scratched her during an argument related to custody of their child.

Domestic violence: Authorities arrested Eric M. Cornwell, 31, at his home, 502 Seventh St., Struthers, on a warrant after a Southwoods Drive woman alleged he had threatened to slit her throat.

Theft: Jason M. Fair, 32, of 1128 Ivanhoe Drive, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of meat products from Cochran’s Sparkle Market, 4121 South Ave.

March 18

Theft: A woman stole a donation jar containing $50 from Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St.

Theft: A man in his 20s took clothing from Walmart.

Theft: A Youngstown boy, 16, faced charges of theft and falsification after a shoplifting situation at Walmart. He also provided a phony name, police said.

Theft: Jasmine J. Smith, 21, of 810 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Youngstown, was charged after a $12 pair of shorts was stolen from Walmart.

Theft: Ten candy bars were taken from a Shell True North gas station, 5135 Market St.

Theft: Three pieces of costume jewelry were removed from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall, leading to a charge against 31-year-old Elizabeth R. Hackett, 528 Aetna Drive, Salem.

Theft: A $500 handgun was missing from a residence in the 7400 block of Fox Hollow Drive.

Theft: A worker for a Tiffany Boulevard restaurant noticed her vehicle’s rear license plate missing.

March 19

Vandalism: Someone spray-painted a portion of road in front of a driveway in the 1700 block of Lynn Mar Avenue.

Theft: Two packs of energy drinks were taken from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

Theft: A Campbell boy and a Struthers girl, both 17, were charged with stealing a cellphone case and a set of cards from Walmart.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 1200 block of Doral Drive had minor damage to its front fender.

Theft: Michelle N. Humans, 31, of 66 Wilhelm St., Struthers, was charged with taking a $50 set of headphones and a MP3 player case from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

March 20

Burglary: Occurred in the 1200 block of Red Tail Hawk Drive, though nothing seemed to have been disturbed or was missing.

Theft: A woman in her 30s took 19 sticks of deodorant and a sun dress from Walgreen’s Pharmacy, 7295 Market St.

Domestic violence: Joseph D. Repp, 33, of 520 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, was charged with domestic violence and obstructing official business after Repp’s girlfriend alleged he had choked her. He also refused to cooperate with authorities, they said.

Criminal mischief: Eggs were thrown at a residence in the 1300 block of Midwood Circle.

Criminal damaging: A small hole was found in a window to a residence in the 5300 block of Shadow Creek Drive.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 300 block of Wildwood Drive and took $7.

Aggravated menacing: A Lynn Mar Drive man told officers a neighbor threatened to harm and kill him.

Theft: Ryan M. Lepold, 20, of 10268 New Buffalo Road, Canfield, was accused of stealing 21 video games from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.

Arrest: Vincent R. Thomas Jr., 23, no address listed, was charged with violating a protection order after a Paulin Drive woman reported having been informed he was at her residence, despite the prohibition.
