Boardman grad makes the Dean’s list

Boardman High School graduate Dana Infante was named to the Dean’s list for the Boler School of Business for the fall 2010 semester at John Carroll University. A student must have at least a 3.5 GPA to receive this honor. She is the daughter of James and Ginny Infante.

Get bargains at spring sale

Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., will host its spring Trash and Treasure sale May 4-5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mahoning County Skywarn, a volunteer organization of weather spotters, will be conducting training on how to recognize approaching storms and tornadoes.

Meeting set for Women’s League

The next meeting of the Boardman-Poland Junior Women’s League will be Monday at Blazed and Bedazzled, 8414 Market St. in Boardman at 6:30 p.m.

Plans for the upcoming luau in May will be discussed. Members are to bring car/motorcycle care items for baskets to be raffled at the upcoming bike nights at Quaker Steak and Lube in Austintown.

MCCTC offering salon appointments to public

The Cosmetology students at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center are now offering afternoon hours at their salon to the public.

Afternoon appointments are available starting at noon.

All services are performed by students under the supervision of their instructor and prices start at just $6.

Services include haircuts, hairstyles, perms, relaxers, facials, hair removal, hair color and manicures.

The salon will be open now until May by appointment only.

A night at the races

For the Dogs Animal Rescue will host its annual Night at The Races fundraiser today at the Operating Engineers Union Hall, 292 McClurg Road in Boardman.

The $5 entrance fee includes admission, pizza and popcorn. Activities include Cutest Dog Contest, Chinese auction, Black Jack, Chuck-a-Luck, basket raffles, 50-50 raffle and a cash bar.

Proceeds from the event will continue to help For the Dogs, a nonprofit animal rescue group, save dogs mainly from the Mahoning County Dog Pound and help raise funds for a building.

This event is also available for 2 and 3-year-olds Wednesdays in April at 10 a.m. and for 4 and 5-year-olds Tuesdays in April at 10 a.m.

Relax with yoga at the library

The Boardman branch of the public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will host a yoga class for children and their parents April 20 at 10 a.m.

Wear comfortable clothes so that you can bend and stretch and reach for the stars. The program lasts 45 minutes.

TAB meeting scheduled for April 13

The next Teen Advisory Board meeting has been scheduled for April 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Boardman branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County.

Business Women host Chinese auction

Tri-Gold Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association will host its fifth annual Chinese Auction at St. Nick’s Hall in Struthers April 9 at 12:30 p.m.

The cost is $5 and includes a sheet of bidding tickets, a door prize entry and refreshments.

All proceeds go toward the annual scholarship fund given to area students.
