Sub teacher fired for stealing Pittsburgh school laptops

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Public Schools officials say a substitute teacher has been fired for stealing laptop computers from the city’s performing arts high school.

School district spokeswoman Ebony Pugh says officials are not releasing the teacher’s name because she has not been charged by police.

But Pugh tells WPXI-TV that the teacher had been a permanent sub at the Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts. Pugh won’t say how many computers were stolen, but says they were taken over a period of time and not all at once.

It was not immediately clear how soon police intend to file charges.
