Penguin Swimmers excel at Gold championships

The 15 and over Penguin Swimming 400 medley relay team shattered the old Penguin’s record by more than 8.5 seconds.
Medley relay members Gavin Trebilcock, 100 backstroke; Ryan O’Malley, 100 breaststroke; Ryan Bailey, 100 butterfly; and Steven Moss, 100 freestyle, finished with a time of 3:31.01 at the Gold Championships March 11-13 in Cleveland.
Trebilcock led the relay by setting the pace with a time of 51:22 in the 100 backstroke. The time qualified him to compete in Junior Nationals in Palto Alto, Calif., the second week of August.
Penguin team members Mikel Flatley, 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke; Sarah Gonda, 100 backstroke; Connor Brady 100 butterfly; Brooke Bailey, 200 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke, qualified for the finals.
Overall, the team had five third-place, four fourth-place, three fifth-place, one sixth-place, two seventh-place, three eighth-place, two ninth-place, four 10th-place, one 11th-place and five 12th-place finishes.
