Event to help parents during Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month

YOUNGSTOWN

Mill Creek MetroParks will host an event as part of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 16 at Fellows Riverside Gardens, 120 McKinley Ave.

Mahoning County Family and Children First Council is sponsoring the event in collaboration with Mahoning County Children Services, Mahoning County Help Me Grow and the Help Hotline Crisis Center.

There will be sessions for parents about stress management and coping skills, child rearing, nurturing, protecting children online and parenting children with disabilities. Children are welcome to attend, and there will be activities available for them including stories, games and crafts.

There will be free resources for the first 200 parents and children and community-service directories for the first 100 adults.
