Ursuline tops Maplewood in five

Kaitlyn Kay had 17 points, three aces, three blocks and 10 kills for the Ursuline High volleyball team, which beat Maplewood 25-17, 26-24, 21-25, 22-25, 15-9 Wednesday.

Krista Patrick had 22 points, two aces, seven kills and nine digs and Kelsey Cannell had 27 points, six aces and 12 digs for Ursuline (3-12). For Maplewood, Carey Denman had 19 digs, six kills and two blocks; Stephanie Tucker had six aces, Jenna Thompson had 15 points and Emily Ward had six assists.

Newton Falls 25-25-25, Brookfield 6-19-16

NEWTON FALLS

Kelly Casterline had 15 points, six aces, three digs and one kill, Tori Milani had eight kills, eight aces, 28 points and eight digs and Destiny Prusky had 15 kills and five blocks for Newton Falls (9-5, 3-3 All-American Conference Blue Tier).

For Brookfield (0-14), Tori Thompson had six points, six assists and three aces and Leighann Clayton had four kills.

Jessica McGeehan had 15 kills, two blocks, 13 assists and two points for BL (9-5), while Nevada Dobbs had seven kills, five blocks and 14 points and Aly Yajko had seven kills, four blocks and three points.

For Wellsville (10-3), McKenna Pierson had five kills and five assists and Noelle Amato had 15 assists.

JVs: BL 25-23, 25-10.

Meredith Tirpak had 10 kills, 12 points, seven blocks and seven digs for Columbiana (9-4), while Jordan Stoddard had seven kills, six points and 10 digs and Cassandra Sampson had six kills, 11 points, four aces and three digs.

Tessa Lunger had eight kills, seven blocks and four points for Heartland (9-5), while Lauren Mitchell had six points and 17 assists.
