Nude man dies in one-car crash

Police have identified the man killed in a fatal accident, but are still investigating and calling the accident “strange.”

John J. Curtis, 48, of Warren, was killed when his Oldsmobile hit the side of a building at Logan Avenue and Tod Lane at 3 a.m. Thursday. Police say Curtis was traveling at a high rate of speed, went through a stop sign and hit the building.

Police say Curtis was dead at the scene of the accident.

According to Patricia Garcar of the Youngstown Police Department’s traffic division, Curtis was nude at the time he was found behind the wheel of the car. She said police know speed was a factor in the accident, but believe something more was going on because of Curtis’ lack of clothing.

Garcar would not speculate on what may have occurred. She would only say the investigation is ongoing.
