Dana School of Music to host Octubafest recitals

Dana School of Music will have several Octubafest recitals this month featuring tuba and euphonium.

The first recital will be at noon Friday in the Bliss Recital Hall and will feature the Gaudete Brass of Chicago.

Dana’s tuba/euphonium recital will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 in Bliss Recital Hall. The group will perform a second recital at 8 p.m. Oct. 20 in the same location.

Guest artist Anthony Halloin will present a recital in Bliss Recital Hall at 4 p.m. Oct. 23.

Halloin, a native of De Pere, Wis., joined the Navy Band in 2004. In 2000, Halloin was a semifinalist for the Arnold Jacobs Mock Orchestra Audition at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference, and he spent two summers at the Brevard Music Center.

He has performed with the Indianapolis Symphony, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic and the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra.
