Jamie McCourt’s lawyer wants postnup thrown out
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jamie McCourt’s lawyer says a marital agreement that could determine who owns the Los Angeles Dodgers should be thrown out because there are two contradictory versions.
Dennis Wasser gave his closing argument today in the divorce trial of the former Dodgers CEO and her husband Frank McCourt.
He says a postnuptial agreement that the McCourts signed in 2004 can’t be enforced under California law. The couple signed six copies — three making the baseball team Frank McCourt’s personal asset and three that didn’t.
Frank McCourt’s lawyer will speak later today.
The judge will have 90 days to decide whether Frank McCourt should be sole owner or if the team is community property. He could also order the team sold.
