Canfield edges Mooney, 2-1

Tony El Hayek and Jon Hutnyan scored goals as the undefeated Canfield High boys soccer team defeated Mooney, 2-1.

Hutnyan and P.J. Stickle had assists while goalkeeper Mike Thomas made six saves for Canfield (9-0).

For Mooney (3-8), Ryan Yavorsky’s goal was the first Canfield has allowed in nine games. Dalton Smith made three saves and David Perry.

JV: Canfield, 3-0.

Crestview 3, Heartland 2

COLUMBIANA

Evan Forney scored for Crestview and Daniel Walsh had both goals for Heartland (5-4). The halftime score was 1-1.

Howland 7, Liberty 0

LIBERTY

Benji Rush and Connor Gilmour each scored two goals for the Tigers (7-2-0). Also scoring were Ryan Divens, Joseph Law and Taylor Monroe.

Gilmour, Brad Fields, Connor Sherin and Scott Heinemann had assists while goalkeeper Robert Daniels made two saves. Liberty goalkeeper Ryan Halicki made 14 saves.

West Branch 2, Canton South 1

CANTON

Cody Criss and Matt Lathan scored for the Warriors (3-7-0, 2-2-0 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).

Tim Frankhouser had an assist while Dalton Young made 15 saves.

For Canton South, Jose Margues scored the goal and Derrick Hill made 13 saves.

GIRLS

Berkshire 3, Badger 2

BURTON

Alyssa Ronyak scored the winning goal with 2:30 remaining. Ronyak and Katie Lasko scored Berkshire’s other goals while Kristen Lester made 12 saves. Lasko had an assist.

For the Braves, Jennilyn Krumpe and Angleque Armstrong scored while Kayleen Meardith and Armstrong had the assists.

Megan Hunkus made eight saves for the Braves.
