VP Biden to rally young voters at Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden is set to hold a campus rally at Penn State as part of a Democratic push to engage young voters heading into the midterm elections.

Biden is scheduled to appear at this afternoon’s “Moving America Forward” rally. President Barack Obama is scheduled to appear at a similar event at the University of Wisconsin.

The rallies are part of ramped-up efforts by the White House before the Nov. 2 general election. College students could be the key to Democratic success in Pennsylvania, where congressman Joe Sestak trails Republican Pat Toomey in a closely watched Senate race.

Republican Tom Corbett also leads Democrat Dan Onorato in the Pennsylvania gubernatorial race.
