Third victim in shooting succumbs

EAST LIVERPOOL
The last of three people involved in a shooting here last week has died.
Rachael Wilcox, 22, of Avondale Street, died about 6 p.m. Sunday in the University Presbyterian Medical Center of Pittsburgh, Brian Fullum, a forensic investigator for the Columbiana County coroner’s office, said Monday.
The shootings occurred at 2:38 a.m. Wednesday.
Authorities said Wilcox was killed by Steven J. Youngblood, 25, of Liberty, Wilcox’s estranged boyfriend.
Andrea B. Foster, 22, of Fifth Street, Salem, a friend of Wilcox’s, was on the porch and tried to intervene. Youngblood used a pistol to shoot and kill her, too, police said.
Wilcox was shot as she tried to leave the porch and go into her home.
Youngblood then walked a block away and fatally shot himself, according to police.
Fullum said that he had checked on Wilcox’s case three or four times after the shooting, and she seemed to be improving.
“Somehow she took a turn for the worse,” he said.
The investigator said he had not spoken to her.
Fullum said that it will take several months to get test results before a formal ruling in the case is issued.
