Mooney wins Div. II sectional golf event

VIENNA
The Cardinal Mooney High boys golf team edged Ursuline by one stroke in Monday’s Division II sectional at Candywood Golf Course.
Mooney finished first with 325, followed by Ursuline with 326, Champion with 330 and Poland with 332. The top four teams advanced.
Steve Perry shot a 79 to lead Mooney. Other Cardinals were Dom Patella (81), Geoff Kubas (82) and Ricky Clark (83).
Ursuline’s Mickey Collins was the tournament medalist with a 77. The other Irish golfers were Marc Flauto (81), Brandon Oaks (83) and Tom Minnick (85).
Champion’s top scorers were Thomas Lydic (79), Mitch Weaver (79), Clay Hall (86) and Ross Linger (86).
Salem’s Bart Wyss led the individual qualifiers by shooting a 79. Also qualifying were Hubbard’s Justin Hallapy (79), Girard’s Evan Standohar (80) and Struthers’ Alex Mockie (81).
