WARREN

Visitors to downtown Warren at the end of October just might see the ghosts of former Mahoning Valley residents — or at least the actors portraying them.

The Trumbull Fine Arts Council is gearing up for its 29th annual Ghost Walk.

The walk takes place in a milelong loop starting at First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave. Guides lead walkers, stopping at various buildings along the way.

“The actors tell different stories, true stories, about ghostly happenings or tragic stories or people who died tragically, things like that,” said Cherie Celedonia, coordinator. “But all true stories, and all within the Mahoning Valley, Trumbull County, that kind of thing. Not necessarily where they’re telling you the story, but happening in our area.”

The event gets “people downtown to see some of the awesome old architecture and learn a little bit about the history and kind of show off downtown,” Celedonia said.

Stops are made at places in Warren’s historic district, such as the library and city hall. Tours of the buildings are not included.

At each location, a ghost appears and tells the walkers a story.

At the conclusion of the walk, participants are invited to enjoy coffee, punch and cookies in the church.

The Ghost Walk takes place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 15, 16, 22 and 23, regardless of weather. Groups of 20 to 40 leave from the church in 10-minute intervals.

The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for those age 2 to 12. Discounts are given to groups of 10 or more. Celedonia said they are willing to negotiate a price with groups.
